GIS ADMINISTRATOR

Compensation: $65,000- $85,000, DOE

Work Location: Remote (Mountain – Eastern Time Zone Preferred)

Job Description:

EcoPoint Inc. (EcoPoint) is looking to hire a full time GIS Administrator to work as a member of a growing engineering team. Lots of growth potential as the company grows. 

Applicant will support a robust and growing Enterprise GIS environment.

To be a successful hire applicant must possess a high level of self-motivation, independence, and an exemplary work ethic. Applicants must also meet the following requirements.

GIS Administrator Requirements:

  • Experience administering ArcGIS Enterprise and SQL databases in an AWS, or similar cloud provider, environment
  • Experience deploying and migrating GIS database schema changes with minimal down time
  • Experience documenting and diagramming GIS infrastructure.  As well as GIS database entities and relationships (ERD).
  • Experience with DevOps best practices and tooling preferred

GIS Administrator Responsibilities:

  • Configure and maintains ArcGIS Enterprise components, items, and users
  • Configure and maintain PostgreSQL/PostGIS databases 
  • Create and maintain GIS products, processes, and applications for both public and internal customers
  • Support GIS analyses and cartography
  • Support core environmental business functions
  • Maintenance and system deployments require some off-hour and weekend work
  • Report directly to CTO

SPRAY CREW FOREMAN

Compensation: $23-$28/hr DOE

Work Location: Utah (on-site)

Duration: May 1, 2023 to September 29, 2023 (can be flexible with start and end dates for students)

Job Description:

EcoPoint, Inc. is responsible for noxious weed management along a 173-mile transmission line right-of-way (ROW) in Utah. We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Spray Crew Foreman on this project. The noxious weed spray crew is responsible for treating noxious weeds on disturbance areas and access roads using approved and permitted herbicides. Ability to navigate and record data in mobile map, including application records, required. Foreman will be responsible for a crew of two (foreman and technician), ensuring that field operations are conducted in a safe manner.

The work location will range between the Vernal area in NE Utah to the I-25 corridor south of Provo. Crew will travel along ROW throughout the summer conducting treatments at the appropriate seasonal timing. Costs associated with travel and lodging, as well as daily per diem, will be provided by the company during project work. Work weeks will be approximately 60 hours 6 days a week.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current student or recent graduate in botany, wildlife biology, restoration ecology, environmental science, or similar degree.
  • 3 years of noxious weed identification experience.
  • 3 years of native plant identification in western US.
  • 3 years of experience on a field crew
  • 1 year of experience as a crew lead
  • Experience with mobile data collection and using mapping apps for navigation.
  • Licensed commercial applicator in the state of Utah, Colorado, or Wyoming

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience operating off-highway vehicle (OHV)
  • Able to work in remote settings with potentially adverse weather conditions and lack of cell service.
  • 2 years of noxious weed identification experience.
  • 2 years of native plant identification in western US.
  • 2 years of experience on a field crew
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. or more.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot a variety of small equipment, such as small engines, pumps, and associated plumbing.
  • Experience safely hauling and unloading trailers.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must obtain and maintain a commercial applicator license with the state of Utah on or before May 1, 2023 (EcoPoint will provide training materials and pay for cost of test or reciprocal license).
SEASONAL VEGETATION/GIS FIELD TECHNICIAN

Compensation: $20/HR DOE

Work Location: Front Range, Colorado

Duration: Flexible start and finish dates, season ranges from April to October

Job Description:

 This will be a highly autonomous position located where the employee resides within the Colorado Front Range who will contribute to various types of projects both in the field and in the office that range from underground utility locating, vegetation reclamation assessments, plant identification, herbicide application, and desktop GIS analysis. Individuals must have a high level of self-motivation, initiative, and an exemplary work ethic. The applicant will always be expected to represent the company in a professional and safe manner in the field. This will be a seasonal position from April to October (flexible for university students) working 40 hr./week with periodic opportunities for overtime.

Field work, sometimes in harsh weather conditions, includes vegetation reclamation surveys and mapping, stormwater inspections, GPS mapping and associated data collection, etc. Applicants will be required to navigate to remote Oil & Gas locations and use GPS hardware, and mapping software. Applicants will be required to conduct field inspections and some office work. Office work includes GIS analysis & digitization, data entry, and report writing. The ideal candidate has the ability to identify common vegetation (including noxious weed species), has a basic understanding of Oil and Gas facilities, and has a working knowledge of GIS and ESRI applications. Applicants will be required to maintain good communication with co-workers, operator representatives, and other contractors. This position includes limited office work and other duties as assigned. All field equipment and PPE will be provided by EcoPoint. The individual will report directly to either the Project Manager or the Director of Operation, depending on projects assigned to.

Travel:  Daily travel will be required for the position, but rarely requiring overnight stays. With work spread across the intermountain west, overnight travel may be required. However, work will primarily be done on the Colorado Front Range.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in GIS field (preferred)
  • A working knowledge of Colorado/Utah/Wyoming vegetation, noxious and invasive species
  • UAS FAA part 107 license and ability to perform UAS projects
  • Understanding of the Oil and Gas Industry and associated regulatory requirements
  • Basic knowledge of Oil and Gas Facility layout design
  • Herbicide application experience
  • Understanding of stormwater management BMPs

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Understanding of ESRI products (ArcGIS, Survey123, Workforce, and Collector/Fieldmaps)
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a crew
  • Ability to work safely and complete safety trainings as required
  • Basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, tablets, etc.
  • Pass an Initial and Random Drug/Alcohol Tests
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License with a clean record
  • Received or working toward Associates or bachelor’s degree in an environmental field

Minimum Physical Qualifications

  • Walking for extended amounts of time and distance
  • Carrying a load of approximately 20 lbs. for long distances
  • Lifting material with a weight of up to 50 lbs.
  • Physically capable of performing underground locates and field mapping through uneven terrain
  • Working in extreme conditions such as hot or cold weather, wind and insects
  • Drive company vehicles in a safe and conscientious manner
  • Able to work long hours when needed, with occasional out of town travel
